Yao Crochet

The Yao Crochet Project empowers women in remote communities of the Niassa Special Reserve, Mozambique, by transforming toys and art into sustainable livelihoods. Through crochet art inspired by local wildlife and culture, the project promotes income generation, environmental awareness, and community pride—linking creativity, conservation, and resilience in one of Africa’s most biodiverse and fragile ecosystems.
